"So far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?" ..... words from a song by Carol King back in the 70's. Well Carol, I'm here to address that question. And the answer is (in our case) YES, YES, YES!!!
Beth and Sally and I have been friends for 30 years and we make it a point to stay in one place at least once a month! Yessirree, the three of us have been having dinner together once a month for 100 years (or maybe just 20) -- minus the last few years while I lived in California. But even then, whenever I'd fly into Salt Lake we would get together if at all possible. We are kindred spirits. The best of friends. Buddies. The keepers of sacred confidences. We love each other no matter what. We support each other through good times and bad. We laugh together. We cry together. We respectfully disagree about some things and amaze ourselves at how often we agree on most everything else. We celebrate our successes and we console one another when there is heartache. We have watched our children grow and now we share pictures of our grandchildren. We share stories of up's and down's and yes, we have been known to talk behind our husbands' backs! We compliment each other on new hair-do's, fashionable clothes, and awesome jewelry. We hug each other every chance we get. And we can plant a kiss on the cheek like no other! Every woman on earth should have a friend like Beth and Sally. Try to imagine these words that I'm forming at this moment with my very own mouth ..... "I love my girlfriends, and I'd be lost without them!"
The end. No, I take that back. There is no end, this friendship has no end. It is, in our vocabulary, very eternal!
